DEAD CREEK FALLS - SWANTON, VERMONT

The 30' fan waterfall, crashing down from the wooded area above.

Description: This waterfall speaks for itself, powerful, isolated, absolutely spectacular.  Dead Creek drains Fairfield Swamp upstream, and within a short distance finds itself crashing 30' down a fan waterfall.  The fall can be heard from quite a distance away as you exit your vehicle by the road.  The fall is an old mill site that is still quite spectacular beside it, with an interesting castle like appearance.  This fall is set at the edge of a meadow, and is truly a natural wonder.  The falls are visible from the Fairfield Natural Area, but the land on the falls is posted, so be respectful to the owner's wishes, and ask permission to view the falls.

A close-up of the old mill, notice the window slots, and also the archway over a water path at the bottom.

The top of the falls, showing the heavily wooded area and creek continuing below.

A side view, displaying the fall's power, and the old mill across the creek.

A great shot of the falls in winter contrasting the white water with the snow.
