VERMONT WATERFALLS
VERMONT WATERFALL NEWS |
|
November 10, 2007 - It was a huge day today for waterfalls! I saw Moss Glen Falls in Granville, VT for the first time, and it was amazing. While down in central Vermont, I also visited Warren Falls, but wasn't able to get any great shots due to time constraints. Moss Glen was much bigger than I thought, having seen pictures of the fall many times. I may try and get a few Milton waterfalls before the cold weather comes.
11/04/07 - I added profiles of the three falls I visited in Montgomery, VT. Crystal Falls, West Hill Brook Falls, and Hutchins Bridge Falls are now in the database. This now brings the Franklin County, VT total up to 34 waterfalls! I am hoping to get out to do some more before they all turn to ice this winter. I didn't have a lot of luck finding the hippie hole on my trip, but after referencing my Vermont Swimming Holes book, I think I will be able to find it on my next trip. I also plan to check out Big Falls in Troy, VT later this month.
10/21/07 - Montgomery, VT is a beautiful place in the fall, and has some great waterfalls. I didn't even go to the famous "Three Holes" falls on Trout River and still had a blast. I photographed Crystal Falls under the Creamery Bridge on West Hill Brook, a lower falls that I have given the name West Hill Brook Falls until I find the proper name if it has one. Finally, I traveled a little ways and photographed Hutchins Bridge Falls on the Trout River. It was a great day of fall foliage in VT.
9/9/07 - I haven't had a lot of time to visit and photograph Vermont waterfalls this summer, but I am pleased to announce that the site is now on the first page of Google. I am going to continue to visit falls when I get a chance, and really get some progress made on the database. This site will be the ultimate Vermont Waterfall resource, just need to get some free time.
7/5/07 - The Falls of Lana are spectacular!! I recently made a point to stop in Salisbury and check it out. The short hike in the heat was well worth it to see one of the top waterfalls in Vermont. I mainly went to see this great fall for the first time, so I didn't get a lot of different viewpoints due to time constraints. However, the shot I took below will give you an idea of how breathtaking this 100' waterfall tucked in the woods really is. Enjoy!
5/26/07 - Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of free time to add to the site, but I have seen some nice falls traveling with the high school golf team. Stay tuned for more waterfall additions coming this summer.
5/8/07 - I have added some more waterfalls from Franklin County, Vermont and soon will be traveling around to take more photos, especially when the school year ends. Recently added waterfalls include: Mill River Falls, The Mill Falls in Georgia, Elm Brook Falls, Hungerford Brook Falls, Dead Creek Falls, Sweet Hollow Falls, Lower Black Creek Falls, & King's Hill Brook Falls.
4/22/07 - I've begun to post waterfalls I have photographed this year, mostly from Franklin county. I must say that the digital SLR is an amazing gift to a waterfall lover. Nothing can truly capture what a waterfall is like in person, but an SLR camera taking an extended exposure photo is pretty close. The silky falling water is truly outstanding to see in print.
4/18/07 - I have really started to love my SLR camera, as seen in the photos on this page and soon to be showing up on the site. I am starting to travel Franklin county, photographing falls in their full spring glory. I am planning to get all of Franklin done by the end of April, and then will likely be moving to Orleans, Addison, and Chittenden counties next.
4/10/07 - I am trying diligently to get my waterfalls sorted out and prepared for the spring season. This latest snow hasn't been the greatest present, but soon things will be greening up and running for some great pictures. I should have some great photo opportunities in the next few weeks so stay tuned to see the waterfall database grow larger by the day. I am still figuring out my Canon Rebel XTi, but look forward to using it to capture Vermont's great falls.
1/1/07 - The launching of Vermont Waterfalls on the net. The site will have one goal: photograph, describe, and catalog as many waterfalls in Vermont as possible. Vermont has the beautiful green mountains, and plenty of water, so the state has a waterfall around every corner. I have already been doing a preliminary survey of Franklin County and it is amazing how many there are just waiting to be discovered. Stay tuned as the site will grow exponentially this year.
