CRYSTAL FALLS - MONTGOMERY, VERMONT

The 20' falls crash down into the pool below the historic creamery bridge.

Description: This is a historic site of an old mill, or creamery, with a covered bridge that bears the same name.  The falls are nice, but the surroundings are the main attraction.  Covered bridges are a dying site in our world, and one above a nice fall is certainly special.  Once a popular camping site, it is now closed for recreation, likely due to abuse.  The pool below the falls is beautiful, and the old mill remnants are quite interesting.  There is some nice geology on the surrounding rocks, and heavy erosion downstream as West Hill Brook winds down the wooded terrain.  Also check out the interesting rock circle seen downstream.

The old mill site, notice the stairs beside the foundation.  Falls are off to the upper-left.

Downstream of the falls.  Notice the extreme bank erosion and the rock circle seen on the near bank.
