VERMONT WATERFALLS
FAIRFAX FALLS - FAIRFAX, VERMONT |
|
The massive Fairfax Falls tumbling down the bedrock.
Description: This is definitely one of the heavyweights of Vermont, with the large Lamoille River crashing down 70' in a seething white mass. This fall varies greatly depending on the season, from a huge torrent in runoff, to a more defined and moderately explorable fall in the summer. It has a series of block falls, and a couple of slides leading to the bottom pool. There are also some very neat caves downstream. One downfall, but a big one, is the huge hydroelectric plant not seen in the above photo, but you have to make electricity somehow, and it doesn't release carbon dioxide.
